19th Century Schnerenschnitte Valentine

19th Century Watercolor and paper Cut Valentine

Measuring 10″ diameter, this exceptional example of folk art schnerenschnitte (Paper cut work), decorated with watercolor is a Valentine…likely of Pennsylvania origin. It is tack mounted in one spot only to a mat board and framed in a period molded gilt frame measuring 16 1/2″ square. The piece is not signed or dated, and the only apology is a few tears along the fold lines…but no loss.
