18th Century Bonnet Top Chest on Chest

Figured Birch/ Eastern NewHampshire or Southern Maine

Measuring 41″” wide x 22″ deep at the base, and 87″ to the top of the center finial, this chest on chest was undoubtedly made by a craftsman familiar with the Dunlap group. The massive crown, the deep well bottom drawer with false front, and the carving all suggest some association. The single board sides of the upper and lower cases are beautifully selected for symmetrical figure, and the craftsmanship throughout is superb. Brasses are later in the original holes.
